eLBeS, The First Real LBS Event Announced
It has been many years since the first LBS games where developed and face it, most of them died due to the expenses that come with launching a single game. Now, operators see LBS as a way to differentiate and so it's time for a serious Summit on it.
The 1st European Location Based Entertainment Summit, “eLBeS”, is taking place right before the Nordic Games Conference on May 13th in Malmö, Sweden. At the event, you will meet several persons that are greatly involved with LBS and innovation in mobile gaming like;
Maarten Noyons, founder and CEO of the International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA), France, who will be our moderator and present the new IMGAwards location-based category. IMGA was founded 2004 as a platform for bringing together Industry leaders and top talent in Mobile Entertainment and displays the most innovative mobile entertainment games and applications to a worldwide audience.
Markus Montola, University of Tampere, Finland, is an independent researcher in the "Game Research Lab” working on a dissertation on role-playing and pervasive games. He will talk about phenomena such as flash mobs (like Pillow Fight Club and Freezes), art installations (like Abstract Tours jumping over fences and Spencer Tunick photographing 10.000 naked people in a local square), urban exploration and global gaming.
Valerie Ivangorodsky, software engineer and entrepreneur from the Netherlands, has vast experience with in mobile development and has telco consulting. His Roomware project recently won a Spin Award for best mobile concept of the year in the Netherlands.
Annika Waern, senior researcher in the Interaction Laboratory at Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS), Sweden, Annika heads the SICS research theme on gaming and coordinates the EU-financed IPerG pervasive gaming project.
In attendance you will find people from Nokia Sony Ericsson and other well known companies.
