Whitepaper download: It’s all phones and games

Some blog visitors just read… some comment… some send in news… and some write a complete whitepaper! We just received an email from Bryan Cashman as Deloitte. He has written a 5 page whitepaper in which he looks at the current market and displays us his view on the near future where MMOG would conquer the decks. The whitepaper is available for free from the Deloitte website. Feedback is highly appreciated below.

No, the page just has a strange layout. The download link is right above the "get acrobat reader now" button on the left side.

I'm not sure if I would characterize it as conquering the deck -- just as I wouldn't expect YouTube's success to be characterized as conquering the DSL or Cable Modem.

Earlier in the year, we launched Mobile Pet Dog in a two week timeframe to meet the Chinese New Year. No on on-deck company can compete creatively in this way, nor will they ever be able to. It doesn't matter if they have carrier buy in -- it just can't be done.

And, as we serve as many games a month as any wireless carrier, it's not clear to me that it has to be done.

Carriers are a terrific distribution channel for mobile content -- of that there is no doubt. But their current strategy of tight control serves to limit their own growth, if not outright endanger, their own growth.
